The successful retreat at Caer Beris Manor Hotel in Powys was the first ever CfR event to take place in Wales. The Countryside Alliance funds Casting for Recovery's retreats across the UK & Ireland. Its Chief Executive, Simon Hart, wrote a piece for Welsh newspaper the Western Mail on 11th March 2008, outlining the benefits of the Casting for Recovery initiative ahead of the first ever retreat in Wales, to be held at Caer Beris Manor from 11-13 April. Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland, the unique outdoor-based programme specifically designed for women who have, or have had, breast cancer, has announced that its first retreat for Northern Ireland will be held at Brookhall Trout Fishery in Co Antrim from 19th - 21st September 2008, and is inviting patients from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to apply for a place.

Interest in the Casting for Recovery initiative continues to grow, and media coverage is helping to raise awareness across the country. Angling writer Richard Donkin had a piece in the Financial Times on Saturday 16th February 2008 - read it here - and Sue Hunter and Sue Shaw have recently taken the Mail on Sunday fishing at Syon Park for a feature. We will provide you with links to future coverage as soon as possible. Rural dating site Muddy Matches has also given the initiative some support - Muddy Matches: Casting for Recovery
