Voices of Casting for Recovery and Retreat Gallery
Casting for Recovery immerses breast cancer survivors in a retreat devoted to the psychosocial and physical aspects of recovery. | “As a fly fisherwoman, fly tier and breast cancer expert, I heartily support Casting for Recovery as one of the best programmes for breast cancer survivors that I know.” |
Our retreats are an important and transforming experience with a focus on social support and group interactions, reducing the feeling of isolation many survivors might have. In addition to teaching the fundamentals of fly casting, entomology, knot-tying and equipment basics, Casting for Recovery retreats focus on spending time on the water practicing catch-and-release fishing. The motion of fly fishing technique provides a gentle exercise for joint and soft tissue mobility. | “You worked so hard to organise an out-of-this world experience for all of us on the Casting for Recovery retreat. I cannot put into words satisfactorily how grateful I am to you....thank for organising the perfect retreat at the impossibly perfect venue of the Arundell Arms." |
Casting for Recovery offers a forum for women with similar experiences to meet, learn a new skill and gain a respite from their everyday concerns. | “Please will you thank everyone in the team for giving me the best weekend of my life.’. |
We provide an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural setting and learn fly-fishing, "a sport for life." Just as importantly, we offer an opportunity to meet new friends and have fun. | “A wonderful weekend, it has given me my confidence back and a new skill to boot.” |
Whether you are a woman who has or has had breast cancer or whether you're already involved in fly fishing - come and be a part of our work of hope and recovery. | “It has been quite inspirational and I am speechless with respect for my fellow fisherwomen and the way they have all - individually - and quite courageously and quietly - managed their diagnosis, treatment etc etc. Quite humbling and on more than one occasion I just thanked God for how fortunate I was. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.” |

I'm so grateful that I was able to take part." |
