The final Casting for Recovery (CfR) retreat of 2016 was held at Forbes of Kingennie near Dundee the weekend of 23-25 September, with eleven ladies who have, or have had breast cancer, taking part in the unique medical and fly fishing programme.

The CfR team was delighted to attend the third annual Pink Ribbon Conference at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th September. We met a number of oncologists, surgeons and nurses who expressed interest in the project and said it was something that many of their patients would absolutely love to take part in. We will spend the first part of the week packaging up leaflets and posters and sending them out.

Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland, the fly fishing therapy project for ladies with breast cancer, which is administered and run by The Countryside Alliance Foundation, will be at the Pink Ribbon Conference to be held this Friday and Saturday at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

Everyone at Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland is delighted to hear that a new sister organisation, Casting for Recovery Italia, has been set up and hopes to hold its first fly fishing retreat in 2017.

Twelve ladies enjoyed their first taste of fly fishing at a retreat at Kimbridge on the Test near Romsey in Hampshire from 22-24 July. Ladies who all had, or have previously had, breast cancer, came from all over the country to enjoy the two-day residential retreat.
